Youth Advisory Board

The MMSAF Youth Advisory Council strives to be an effective voice that: give youth a voice, help build professional skillsets and experience that may lead to future employment and inform systems to improve services for future youth. youth board should comprise between eight to twelve members to make sure that decision making is effective; It should be inclusive, diverse and representative of the young members in your organization and the wider community; Term limits should be maintained to encourage fresh activity and perspectives.

As a coalition of diverse young advocates and leaders from across the State to addresses relevant issues by spreading public awareness and serving as a liaison between youth, the community, and policymakers.

  • The Youth Advisory Council is comprised of youth and young adults who have demonstrated leadership through their involvement with the community or other statewide youth initiatives and have an interest in helping their peers who want to improve their school and communities.


  • The Youth Council provides feedback and collaborates on a variety of activities, programs, policies, and resources that affect the health, wellness, and transitional needs of youth with disabilities.


  • Incites change for the betterment of youth with disabilities and chronic conditions, Initiates political conversations with youth around the issues of accessibility and inclusion in education and adult transition,

·     Educates youth on political issues and other stakeholders on youth issues.


  • Youth advisory councils, which in examining practices and policies that affect the lives of youth with disabilities.

 

Members must be 18-25 years of age. Members must serve a two-year term  meeting will be held in-person with virtual option available. In person meetings will be held at One 
Judiciary Square, located at 441 4th Street, NW.
